The blog hasn't been seeing a lot of action lately, mostly because I simply don't have the time. Work has been crazy for the last couple of months, seriously crazy, and I don't have the free time to write. I'm two months behind on the newsletter to my kid simply because, as far up in the priority list as it is, I never got to it!
On that list is a blog move. This blog has been running out of my basement for about three years now and it's time to change that. The move is then to Blogger. I've looked at other options, but Blogger was the only one that allows enough customization to get the look I already had, has everything for free and doesn't have me register with yet another site (Blogger is owned by Google now, and I have a GMail account).
The pictures have made a similar move to Flickr. I gave a quick try to Picasa, the equivalent offering from Google, but that quickly changed. A day later the layout images of the site stopped showing, so I ran to Flickr. After signing up I learned that I can't host images like that on their site (probably can't on Picasa either, but they didn't tell me), so those images moved to ImageShack and I kept Flickr for the rest. It looks a whole lot better than Picasa anyway.
On the priority list is to move the DNS entry to this site, which, if you are reading this, is now done, and moving the archive. Unfortunately I have to copy each entry one at a time because Blogger doesn't have an import feature and I don't want to write one myself, but that's ok it'll just take a while. No biggie. The only issue is that I can't move comments. Ah well.
Comments are generally open on all posts, you can go ahead and share your thoughts. Anonymous comments are allowed, so you don't have to register with Blogger.
Hopefully this move will allow both of us to post more easily and, well, it'll save us a bunch of cash every month as I get a faster, and cheaper, cable modem to replace the ADSL. Eh.
